Gypsy Tears is a Hard Rock band from Brazil, with current lineup established in 2023. Its music compositions have strong influences from Classic and Hard Rock style based on the 70s and 80s, these ones being the main pillar that allows the band to flirt with Blues, Stoner and wander creatively through Country Rock, being complemented by the use and visual aesthetics of Art Rock. It features guitars with striking riffs, melodic and overwhelming vocals, slide guitar stitching the melodies together, bass and drums with bold and powerful grooves. All of this tied together in harmonies and lyrics that deal with diverse subjects such as everyday cases, social criticism and deeper questions about the human being, valuing regionality and Minas Gerais local culture.
The band is formed by Thiago Valle (compositions, guitars, backing vocals, visual arts), John Laporte (vocals, backing vocals), Cleiton Hipólito (bass, backing vocals) and David Augusi (drums), musicians with years of diverse experiences in Rock and Metal genre. The band in its current lineup presents its debut album called Blue Bird with a total of 13 tracks. Changing the formula from its first work, which gave birth to the band (a completely instrumental album, a solo work by Thiago Valle), it brings songs where the harmonious vocal melodies performed by John Laporte regularly exchange the protagonist role with the riffs and heavier chords played by guitarist and visual artist, Thiago Valle.
Gypsy Tears' new album features creative and refreshed arrangements, with influences ranging from Blues to Country Rock, featuring the heavier sounds of Stoner Rock and flirtations with Prog Rock. The use of slide guitar (bottleneck) is presented in both riffs and solos, in addition to extra layers of melodies and emotions to the studio production. All in favor of a renewed, well-crafted Hard Rock, a musical genre with greater evidence of the various influences presented in the work and source of inspiration for the musicians. The bass and drums occupy their due prominent spaces with solid and well-designed grooves, bringing unique characteristics to the songs, ending the cycle that makes up Gypsy Tears' identity.
